"Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati was represented by the team named CYBER NINJAS in the finals of the 4th edition of Bosch Future Mobility 2021 Competition, organized by Bosch Engineering Center in Cluj. CYBER NINJAS was formed by 3rd-year students: Ghiorghita Gabriel Alexandru, Prunean Raluca Andrada, and Craciun Marian Stelian, from the Faculty of Automation, Computer sciences, Electronics and Electrical engineering, specialization Automation, and Applied Informatics being coordinated by Associate professor Razvan Solea Ph.D.
The competition challenged passionate engineering students to develop, during a year, autonomous movement algorithms for mini-machines at 1/10 scale, the cars being offered by the Bosch Group through the representative office in Romania. After a complex competition and several interviews with Bosch specialists, the Cyber Ninjas team qualified in the final which took place on September 19, 2021.
The representatives of our university competed with other 50 teams from ten countries, the finalists being only nine teams! The main challenge of the competition was to schedule the mini-car received from the organizers on a predetermined route so that it could identify traffic lights, virtual pedestrians, and other obstacles and make decisions on its own. An autonomous car was thus created on a small scale. During the semifinals of the competition, the students had the chance to work, under the guidance of highly qualified and experienced specialists from Bosch, with innovative technologies, hardware, and software.
The qualification in the last stage of the competition is a prestigious result, which once again demonstrates the quality of education and scientific research conducted at the Faculty of Automation, Computer sciences, Electronics and Electrical engineering, specialization Automation and Applied Informatics.
Congratulations to the participants and the team coordinator, Associate professor Razvan Solea Ph.D.
