"Dunărea de Jos" University of Galati will participate in a new project funded by the Horizon Europe programme for the development of innovative products and for the advertising of research in the field of BORDER MANAGEMENT 2021. The project entitled “Mechanical-Impedance and multiphysics concealed and hidden objects interrogation MELCHIOR”, is a HORIZON – IA type of project and will be launched in the Department of Chemistry, Physics and Environment (DCPM), Faculty of Sciences and Environment in September 2022.
MELCHIOR is focusing its efforts on several key challenges that currently impede progress in border security capabilities. It is dedicated to the creation of a fully developed product ready to be deployed at airports or other borders, critical infrastructure and/or overcrowded locations.
The consortium has 16 partners drawn from customs and border authorities, universities and research institutes, SMEs, and other relevant stakeholders. The project is coordinated by the Universidad de Alcala, Spain, and will run for a period of 36 months with a budget of over €5.5 million.
The project coordinator from UDJG, Prof. PhD. Luminița Moraru, and DCFM will play a central role in the project by carrying out activities in computer-aided modelling in the field of infrasound applications, Artificial Intelligence, data analysis and IP.
