World Education and Teachers' Day has been marked every year on the 5th of October since 1994.

Education transforms lives and is at the heart of UNESCO's mission to build peace, eradicate poverty and foster sustainable development.

It was designated by UNESCO and marks the signing in 1966 of the "UNESCO/ILO (International Labor Organization) Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers". This Recommendation, together with the 1997 Recommendation on Higher Education, is the main reference framework for addressing the rights and responsibilities of teachers on a global scale.

World Education Day was celebrated for the first time as part of a new global agenda, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Adopted by the UN in September 2015, it guarantees quality education and stresses that achieving this goal requires not only a substantial increase in the number of qualified teachers, but also motivating them by valuing their work.

Education is an essential element in the development of a society! Best wishes to those involved in the educational process.
