The third edition of the Top World Ranking of Scientists 2% of the most important scientists in the world (ranking made by Stanford University, together with Elsevier Publishing and SciTech Strategies) was published recently.
According to it, in the "opera Omnia" chapter, four of the 140 top researchers in Romania are from the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galați. It is about Academician Eugen Victor Cristian RUSU, Director of Doctoral Schools of the University, Professor Constantin APETREI Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Environment within the Faculty of Sciences and Environment, Professor Lidia BENEA Ph.D., from the Faculty of Engineering, Materials Engineering field, and Professor Liliana Celia RUSU Ph.D., from the Faculty of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Department). Last year, the higher education institution from Galati was represented worldwide in this chapter by three professors, two of them being the RUSU couple, specialists in the study of waves, both collaborators of the Center for Marine Technology and Ocean Engineering (CENTEC) in Lisbon (Portugal).
Regarding scientific achievements in 2021, three professors from the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati are this year in the top. It is about Academician Eugen RUSU, University Professor Liliana RUSU Ph.D., and Professor Constantin APETREI, Ph.D. The three top researchers are part of the more than 200 Romanians included in the list, the selection criterion being the achievements in the field of research in the past year. In addition, according to this classification, Academician Eugen RUSU occupies position 61152 out of a total of 200.412 researchers, thus placing himself in the first 30% of this world's top. "It is a recognition of the research that is done at the "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati, we are happy that we are also included in the Top World Ranking of Scientists 2% this year and we hope to stay here if possible. We want to represent a model for young researchers from Galați, who will want to further the reputation of the higher education institution", said Academician Eugen Victor Cristian RUSU, director of CSUD DJUG.
"Top World Ranking 2%" is a publicly available database, created by Stanford University (California, USA) together with Elsevier Publishing, which provides information on the impact of the most read researchers around the world, throughout their entire career or for a single year (2021). Considering several indicators (h-index, hm-index adjusted for co-authorship, citations to papers in different author positions, and a composite indicator) Top World Ranking 2% analyzed the works of more than 10 million scientists in 22 major fields and 176 subfields, from chemistry to engineering to economics and business, over the period 1996-2021, thus providing a comprehensive database of the most important articles written worldwide.
