Scheduled to be completed in March 2023, the REXDAN research vessel was launched for the first buoyancy tests on October 20, 2022, at the ATG Shipyard in Giurgiu.

The ceremony was held in the presence of several members of the management and implementation teams of the project "Integrated system for research and complex monitoring of the environment in the area of ​​the Danube River, REXDAN" code SMIS 127065, project co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Program Operational Competitiveness 2014-2020 (POC). The project is implemented by "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati between July 10, 2020, and December 31, 2023.
 
The REXDAN research vessel, as an integral part of the REXDAN Research Infrastructure alongside the REXDAN Research Center, will ensure the development of complex interdisciplinary research activities in the field of intelligent specialization Energy, Environment, and Climate Change in an extended geographical area, located in the sector navigable and the river basin of the Danube.
